What is Beijing Adventures all about?
Once a week I use Google Earth to choose a random spot in Beijing. I find my way there, find something interesting about it, take pictures, talk to someone or some people in the area, and eat at the nearest restaurant. The important task for me is finding something interesting about that random spot.
Well, if you've read my first post, you know why I'm doing this. This page is all about how I'm doing it.
Mostly, this is here to let my readers know that this is truly random. What's happening here is a little script that chooses a spot in Beijing, mostly well within the bounds of fifth ring road. The spot is chosen randomly, via latitude and longitude, accurate to three decimal places.
The range, if you're wondering, is 39.999 North, 116.250 East (near the Summer Palace and the Fragrant Hills) to 39.830 North, 116.500 East (Somewhere way Southeast of furniture-land).
So, below is a Flash version of the script that I use to find this random spot. The one on the left requires Flash Player 8 or higher, and a lot of people have reported problems with it. the one on the right only requires version 6 of the player, but isn't as cool. Try them out!
By the way, I am working on some other cities per request!
